Milbank Educational Foundation

Scholarship Application

Return to Ms. Schilling by March 31, 2006. The Milbank Educational Foundation will select approximately 15 to 17 Milbank High School seniors to receive a range of scholarship each to be used at a secondary educational institution of the student’s choice. The scholarships range from one to four year awards. To be eligible a student must be a senior at Milbank High School and in the top 50% of the graduating class in the spring of the year of the application.

Point Value

10 Citizenship- respect for authority, respect for peers,    loyalty

20 Character- honest, dependability, self-discipline, integrity

10 Leadership-school and community leadership experiences

10 Extra Curricular Participation

10 Community and Non-School Activities

20 Scholarship-class rank, grade point average and test score

Note: Class rank and GPA as of the end of seven semesters

10 Effort-achievement vs. abilities

10 Educational Plan-career and educational goals and plans for reaching these goals

Applications should by typed or neatly written. The application is also available on the Milbank School Web page www.milbank.k12.sd.us

Please provide sufficient information so that your accomplishments and performance can be accurately evaluated.

Winners will be announced at an awards ceremony.

Part 3: School Extra-Curricular Activities Participation

List all community activities in which you have participated and note any major accomplishments in each plus the years you took part. Examples include: church groups, clubs outside of school, scouts, volunteer groups or music or art endeavors. List all elected or appointed leadership positions held in your school and/or community.
List only the positions in which you were directly responsible for directing or motivating
others should be included. For example, elected student body, class or club officer,
committee chairperson; team captain; newspaper editor; work area manager, etc.

The committee will evaluate the quality of your individual response to membership
in our school and community including respect for authority, respect for peers,
loyalty and day-to-day behavior during the regular school day and during school activities.

The committee will evaluate such personal traits as honesty, dependability, self-
discipline, hard work, integrity, which you have displayed during your high school career.
